The karaage chicken bowl is the Wishbone classic served over rice. Crispy Japanese fried chicken, marinated overnight and fried to order, piled on warm sushi rice. It is the heartier, fork-and-spoon way to eat karaage in Bica.
Here is exactly what goes into it, how we make it, and where to get one in Lisbon.

What goes into the karaage chicken bowl
Pieces of karaage fried chicken over a bed of warm sushi rice, finished with our house sauces. A complete meal in a bowl, built around the same chicken as our sandwich.
The price is €14.50. You can see it alongside everything else on our karaage menu. Want it plant-based? The karaage mushroom sandwich gets the same karaage treatment.
How we make it
The chicken is marinated overnight in a Japanese karaage marinade, then coated light and fried the moment you order. It goes straight onto the rice while the crust is still shattering-crisp.
The rice is seasoned sushi rice, cooked fresh through the day. Made in our Bica kitchen at Rua da Boavista 14.
Bowl or sandwich?
The bowl is the choice when you want something more filling and less handheld. Same karaage, more of it, over rice instead of bread. If you would rather grab and go, the karaage chicken sandwich is the one.
